What it is
A set of treatises by an anonymous author, probably a Syrian monk influenced by Proclus' Neoplatonism, who presents himself as Dionysius, Paul's convert in Athens (Acts 17:34). It deeply influenced mystical and liturgical theology in East and West; its apostolic authorship was questioned already in the sixth century and abandoned in the modern era.
