Who he was
A monk trained in Bethlehem and the Egyptian desert who brought Eastern monastic spirituality to southern Gaul, founding monasteries in Marseille. His works influenced the Rule of Benedict; his view of grace and freedom was criticized by Prosper of Aquitaine and later associated with so-called "Semi-Pelagianism".
